Usually whenever I goto YouTube to watch few videos, it always lag while watching the video even for a 1 minute video, I sometimes have to wait for 5 minutes for completely buffering of video, between that time I always replay the video until it has completely finished buffering and then again, replay the video from start when Buffering is complete. Now this is a way too painful and time consuming process and the fun and excitement for watching that video completely dies down. so I thought of checking if my ISP was blocking my download speed for watching videos.
For Checking if ISP is limiting Download Speed there is a Free utility on the Internet called Glasnost. Glasnost conducts some tests to determine if your ISP is really limiting your download speed or not, the tests are usually around 8 minutes long to determine better result, The test uses Java Applet to check if the download speed is limited or not and it can also be used to determine for other Applications like BitTorrent, IMAP, POP etc.
I ran Glasnost test for Flash videos to check if ISP is Limiting Download speed, and after waiting round for 8 minutes or so, I got to see whether my ISP is really eating up the download speed, well you can say I had a good luck and that my download speed was perfectly fine.
Well Friends give it a try to check if ISP limiting your Download speed, well also sometimes I have seen that some ISP block P2P sharing or you can BitTorrent Transfer so with this little utility you can also check if it blocks BitTorrent for you or not.
